The mountain

The relief of the Ejean municipality is characteristic of the Middle Valley of the Ebro. It is located in a flat area, in transition between the stream bed of the Ebro river and the Pre-Pyrenees. There are peculiar reliefs, such as the calcareous grindstones that give rise to La Bardena, the desert steppe of Sora or the pre-Pyrenean mountain of Farasdués or La Marcuera.

The Bardena

It has an average altitude of 650 meters. It is an area with abundant vegetation: Aleppo pine, juniper, holm oak, oak, juniper, rosemary, thyme, ontina, strawberry tree and black hawthorn.

Specific animal species are: wild boar, hare, rabbit, partridge,

quail, wood pigeon, insectivorous birds such as the chickadee or mosquito and birds of prey such as kestrel, short-toed owl and short-toed eagle.

All this makes La Bardena an important ecological reserve.

The area is also known as “Bardena Negra”, due to the blackish color that gives the appearance of the pines on the ground.

The activities that can be developed in it are hiking, mountain biking and ecological photography.

There are signposted routes.
